The match was halted for a while in the opening stage of the game due to AZ fans throwing smokebombs on the pitch.{{Cite web|url=https://www.ad.nl/nederlands-voetbal/bekerfinale-even-stil-door-vuurwerk-op-veld~a602256d/|title=Bekerfinale even stil door vuurwerk op veld|date=22 April 2018|publisher=AD|language=nl|access-date=3 November 2018}}
