Previous trades

Since 2015, clubs have been able to trade future picks in the next year's national draft during the trade period. As a result, a total of 34 selections for the 2019 draft were traded during the 2018 trade period, including (for the first time) at the 2018 National Draft, where 14 picks were traded. The selection order for each of these picks is tied to the original club's finishing position in the 2019 season.{{cite web |last1=Twomey |first1=Callum |title=Why Suns want Eagles to plummet |url=http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-02-20/why-suns-want-eagles-to-plummet-2018-draft-picks |website=AFL.com.au |publisher=AFL Media |access-date=8 September 2018 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180408105442/http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-02-20/why-suns-want-eagles-to-plummet-2018-draft-picks |archive-date=8 April 2018 |date=20 February 2018 |url-status=live}}
