The 2020 Orlando City B season was the club's fourth season of existence and their second since returning from hiatus during the 2018 season. It was their second season as a founding member of USL League One, the third tier of the United States soccer pyramid, after moving from the second tier (USL Championship) in the restructuring. The team also moved from Montverde Academy where they spent the 2019 season, to the newly refurbished Osceola County Stadium at Orlando City's new training complex in Kissimmee, Florida.{{cite web |title=Orlando City SC to Expand Presence in Osceola County |url=https://www.orlandocitysc.com/post/2019/10/10/orlando-city-sc-expand-presence-osceola-county |website=www.orlandocitysc.com}}

On March 12 it was announced that the start of the 2020 USL League One season would be delayed as the league was temporarily suspended for 30 days on the advice of public health authorities due to the coronavirus pandemic.{{cite web |title=United Soccer League Announces Two-Week Delay to Start of League One Season |url=https://www.uslleagueone.com/news_article/show/1095044 |website=USL League One |date=March 12, 2020}} OCB's season eventually began on August 1, 127 days after originally scheduled. All home games were played behind closed doors.

It was the team's last season in USL League One, announcing on October 16 that it was withdrawing from USL1 at the end of the season in lieu of a new proposed MLS reserve league launching in 2021.{{cite web |title=Orlando City B to Withdraw from USL League One |url=https://www.orlandocitysc.com/post/2020/10/16/orlando-city-b-withdraw-usl-league-one |website=www.orlandocitysc.com}}{{cite web |last1=Rueter |first1=Jeff |title=MLS to launch reserves league beginning play in 2021, sources say |url=https://theathletic.co.uk/2136000/2020/10/13/mls-reserves-league-usl/ |website=The Athletic}}{{cite web |title=Portland, Philadelphia and Orlando reserve teams to leave USL after 2020 |url=https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020/10/13/reports-portland-philadelphia-and-orlando-reserve-teams-leave-usl-after-2020 |website=Major League Soccer}} On October 29, nine players were released as part of the end of season roster decisions, notably cutting a number of the older players in preparation for the shift in age group.{{cite web |title=Orlando City B Announces Roster Statuses Following 2020 Season |url=https://www.orlandocitysc.com/post/2020/10/29/orlando-city-b-announces-roster-statuses-following-2020-season |website=www.orlandocitysc.com}}
