VFLW (women's reserves)

After running a stand-alone VFLW team since 2018, Richmond elected not to renew the club's license to participate in the 2021 season. Instead, Richmond players represented Port Melbourne under an alignment model. The season ran concurrently with part of the AFLW season for the first time, meaning unselected AFLW players took part in VFLW football as a reserves-grade competition. After the end of the AFLW season, players from the senior side also took part in matches for the club, including into the final series.{{cite news |title=Port Melbourne women's team elevated to VFLW |url=https://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/localfooty/vwfl/port-melbourne-womens-team-elevated-to-vflw/news-story/832a11e97068e53a3966c818de71b097 |accessdate=1 November 2020 |work=Leader |agency=Herald Sun |publisher=News Corp Australia |date=28 October 2020}}{{cite news |last1=Black |first1=Sarah |title=Port Melbourne joins VFLW, competition start date locked in |url=https://womens.afl/news/52914/port-melbourne-joins-vflw-competition-start-date-locked-in |accessdate=1 November 2020 |work=AFL Media |publisher=Telstra Media |date=29 October 2020}}{{cite news |title=Richmond form Port Melbourne alignment for 2021 VFLW season |url=https://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/832312/?fbclid=IwAR1K4lK1UUJAV3Vn8FhkhGX76t1KFAJgpSdZhk0t5g_aeCu5oyL1e2PGJ3Y |accessdate=1 November 2020 |work=Richmond FC |publisher=Telstra Media |date=28 October 2020}}
