This was the first international tournament for Switzerland since the introduction of global T20I status in January 2019,{{cite web|url=https://www.icc-cricket.com/media-releases/672322|title=All T20 matches between ICC members to get international status|work=International Cricket Council|date=26 April 2018|access-date=10 September 2021}} and their re-admittance to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in July 2021.
