Teams
For the 2023 season, the competition returned to the single-match format originally used, unlike the previous Supercopa Ecuador edition (2021) which was contested by six teams. Due to this, the champions of both the Ecuadorian Serie A and the Copa Ecuador were the only two teams that played the competition.{{cite web|url=https://www.eltelegrafo.com.ec/noticias/fanatico/1/aucas-independiente-valle-copa|title=Aucas e Independiente del Valle disputarán la Supercopa Ecuador 2023 |trans-title=Aucas and Independiente del Valle will play the 2023 Supercopa Ecuador |language=es |publisher=El Telégrafo |date=11 January 2023 |access-date=18 January 2023}}
