It is contested by six GAA county teams ranked 18–23 in the 2024 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. The Christy Ring Cup final was played on 2 June 2024 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Kildare and Derry, in what was their first ever meeting in the final.
