History

2AY Albury was founded by AWA and opened on 17 December 1930. In 2005, 2AY and sister station 104.9 Star FM were purchased by DMG Radio Australia.{{Cite news| page = 33| last = Bridge| first = Rachel| title = DMGT expands radio arm in Australia| work = The Times| location = London| date = 1996-10-17}} Later in 2005, Macquarie Regional RadioWorks, through its purchase of most DMG Radio Australia's regional assets, owned 2AY, Star FM, and former cross-town rival 105.7 The River. Due to cross media ownership laws limiting the number of radio stations owned by one company in a market to two, Macquarie was required to sell one station.{{Cite news| edition = 1 - All-round Country| page = 19| last = Day| first = Mark| title = Radio giant moves to shed seven stations| work = The Australian| date = 2005-02-03}} 2AY was sold in September 2005 to Ace Radio.{{Cite news| issn = 1038-3433| page = 25| last = Mike Edmonds| first = Luke Dennehy & Chloe Adams| title = Ace adds to the pack| work = Herald Sun|location = Melbourne| accessdate = 2014-11-10| date = 2005-09-02| url = http://docs.newsbank.com/openurl?ctx_ver=z39.88-2004&rft_id=info:sid/iw.newsbank.com:AUNB:AHSB&rft_val_format=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:ctx&rft_dat=10C5C7EA4BDF3EE0&svc_dat=InfoWeb:aggregated5&req_dat=104B74501DCB01D3}}
