83 Armoured Regiment is an armoured regiment of the Indian Army.

History
The regiment was raised on 01 Jan 76 under the command of then Lt Col (Later Brig) Ashok Johar. The "Flag hoisting" ceremony was held on 28 Feb 76 on adoption of the regiment colours. The regiment colours are "FRENCH GREY" on top, which signifies Determination and Endurance and "MAROON" at bottom signifying Might and Strength.
Ever since its inception, the regiment has lived upto the finest traditions of the armoured corps. In its 47 years of existence, unit has served in almost all kinds of terrains. This has contributed immensely to the richness of its experience, adaptability and professional expertise.

The Regiment had the honour of participating in the annual Republic Day parade in 2015.
Equipment
The Regiment is presently equipped with the T-90 tank.
Regimental Insignia
Regimental Motto
The Regimental motto is "ONE FOR ALL - ALL FOR ONE" . This signifies loyalty and support between all ranks of the regiment both in peace and war and utmost loyalty to regimental colours at all times.
Participation in Major Operations
The regiment has participated in three major operations :
- OP TRIDENT : In Jan 1986, the regiment under the command of Col HS Dhillon got deployed in the western sector.
- OP VIJAY : The Regiment was deployed for OP VIJAY in Jan 1999 under the command of Col BS Sidhu.
- OP PARAKRAM : Under the command of Col (Later Maj Gen) Bishamber Dayal, the regiment was mobilized at a very short notice in Dec 2001.
- REPUBLIC DAY PARADE : The regiment had the glorious distinction of taking part in the republic day parade twice (1980 and 2015)
- STANDARD PRESENTATION : The regiment was awarded with the 'Presidents Standard' by Honorable president Pratibha Patil on 19 Oct 2010.
