ABC (stream cipher)

{{onesource|date=April 2010}}

In cryptography, ABC is a stream cypher algorithm developed by Vladimir Anashin, Andrey Bogdanov, Ilya Kizhvatov, and Sandeep Kumar.{{cite journal|last1=Anashin|first1=Vladimir|last2=Bogdanov|first2=Andrey|last3=Andrey|first3=Ilya|title=ABC: A New Fast Flexible Stream Cipher|journal=European Network of Excellence in Cryptology II|url=http://www.ecrypt.eu.org/stream/ciphers/abc/abc.pdf|accessdate=26 January 2015|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20061011134727/http://www.ecrypt.eu.org/stream/ciphers/abc/abc.pdf|archive-date=2006-10-11}} It has been submitted to the eSTREAM Project of the eCRYPT network.

It takes a 128-bit key and a 128-bit IV.

The claimed security level of 2^{128} bits has been reduced to 2^{88}.{{cite web | title=A new distinguish attack against ABC stream cipher | website=IEEE Xplore | date=May 7, 2007 | url=https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/4195515 | access-date=June 12, 2025}}
