Reception

Tay Yek Keak of Today rated the film 3 stars out of 5 and wrote, "This is a too-even, too-predictable flick crying out for a better ‘gotcha!’ ending than the one it thinks we'd be surprised by. It's still something that's pretty okay to see, but nope, there's no mind-blowing shock here."{{cite web |url= https://www.todayonline.com/8days/seeanddo/i-amok-review-super-computer-plays-god-slick-predictable-j-thriller|title= A I Amok Review: Super-Computer Plays God In Slick But Predictable J-Thriller|last= Tay|first= Yek Keak|date= 19 March 2020|website= Today|publisher= |access-date= 2 October 2023|quote=}}

Marcus Goh of Yahoo! Life gave the film a score of 3/5 and wrote that while it "tries its best to make you think about the subject matter, and it does have some interesting bits", it "ends up being bogged down by a horrific second Act, which completely deflates any tension that might have been generated in Act One."{{cite web |url= https://sg.style.yahoo.com/review-ai-amok-gets-dragged-down-by-a-second-act-that-runs-amok-030505489.html|title= REVIEW: AI Amok gets dragged down by a second act that runs amok|last= Goh|first= Marcus|date= 24 March 2020|website= Yahoo! James Hadfield of The Japan Times rated the film 2.5 stars out of 5 and wrote that the film is "as cerebral as a conversation with a Pepper robot, but if you’re looking for an uncomplicated diversion, you could do far worse."{{cite web |url= https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture/2020/02/06/films/film-reviews/ai-amok/|title= 'AI Amok': Futuristic flick rehashes old tech|last= Hadfield|first= James|date= 6 February 2020|website= The Japan Times|publisher= |access-date= 2 October 2023|quote=}}
