Following the release of Not Far From Home, A Will Away turned to Kickstarter to fund the production and release of their first LP, Product of Your Environment.{{Cite web|url=https://www.mycitizensnews.com/features/enter/2012/09/warped-tour-reenergizes-naugatuck-band/|title=Warped Tour reenergizes Naugatuck band|last1=Marshall|first1=Luke|last2=Writer|first2=Staff|date=2012-09-06|website=Citizen's News|language=en-US|access-date=2020-01-02}} It exceeded their initial goal of $2,500.00.{{Cite web|url=https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/awillaway/a-will-aways-new-record-product-of-your-environmen|title=A Will Away's New Record: "Product of Your Environment"|website=Kickstarter|language=en|access-date=2019-04-09}} Product of Your Environment was released in December 2012.

The band released their second EP, Cold Weather, in December 2013. The release introduced a more alternative rock sound to the band and a departure from the pop punk sound of POYE and NFFH. It was well received by critics, with one reviewer stating, "The lyrical content of this album is the best it’s ever been for A Will Away, radiating passion and honesty through every word. Even if you haven’t personally experienced what the band describes in a given song, I guarantee you’ll feel like you understand them completely."{{Cite web|url=https://dailyslicemag.com/2014/02/26/ep-review-a-will-away-cold-weather/|title=EP Review: A Will Away – Cold Weather|last=Bilcik|first=Tori|date=2014-02-26|website=The Daily Slice|language=en|access-date=2019-04-09}}

In a year filled with touring, the band carved out time to write and record what they hoped would become their second LP. However, after months of work, they were dissatisfied with what they had produced and scrapped a nearly complete album.{{Cite web|url=https://www.honeypunchmag.com/interview-a-will-away|title=Interview: A Will Away|website=Honey Punch Mag|language=en-US|access-date=2020-01-02}} They began writing new material for an EP in December and recorded it over a three-week period in January 2015.{{Cite web|url=https://www.theaquarian.com/2015/04/01/an-interview-with-a-will-away-finding-their-bliss/|title=An Interview with A Will Away: Finding Their Bliss {{!}} The Aquarian|last=McGrath|first=Ryan|website=www.theaquarian.com|language=en-US|access-date=2020-01-12}} At the same time, the band signed with Quiet Fire Media, a new record label founded by members of Head North.{{Cite web|url=http://underthegunreview.net/2015/01/21/quiet-fire-media-announces-launch-sign-a-will-away-and-watermedown/|title=Quiet Fire Media Announces Launch, Sign A Will Away And Watermedown|last=Bazley|first=John|date=January 21, 2015|website=Under the Gun Review|language=en-US|url-status=live|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150123033024/http://www.underthegunreview.net/2015/01/21/quiet-fire-media-announces-launch-sign-a-will-away-and-watermedown/ |archive-date=2015-01-23 |access-date=2020-01-12}}

Less than two months after it was recorded, Bliss was released in March 2015.
