Life

Abdullah was the son of Kade I and Fatima.{{Cite book |last=Cohen |first=Ronald |url=https://archive.org/details/bostonuniversity02bost |title=Boston University Papers on Africa: Volume II: African History |date=1966 |publisher=Boston University Press |pages=80 |chapter=The Bornu King Lists}} He succeeded his cousin Ibrahim I Nikale as mai in 1311, after Ibrahim had been murdered by a group led by a man named Yerama Muhammad.{{Cite book |last=Barth |first=Heinrich |url=https://www.google.com/books/edition/Travels_and_Discoveries_in_North_and_Cen/la_zIUj0oiwC |title=Travels and Discoveries in North and Central Africa: Being a Journal of an Expedition Undertaken... 1849-1855 |date=1857 |publisher=Longmans |pages=638 |language=en}} Abdullah was a just ruler. He punished Ibrahim's murderers and defeated a figure named Bagharimi, who had apparently been a rival of some sort in Ibrahim's reign. After this, Abdullah is said to have "established his power with a strong hand".

Abdullah had multiple consorts, including Kime and Kagala. He was succeeded in 1322 by his son Selema.
