Abdullah al-Mehdarhttps://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100113/ts_nm/us_yemen_qaeda{{dead link|date=October 2016 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }} (?-2010) was an Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) member who was the leader of a cell in Yemen. On 13 January 2010 it was reported that he had been killed by Yemeni security forces.{{cite news | url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/8455822.stm | title=Yemen forces 'kill al-Qaeda chief' | work=BBC News Online | date=13 January 2010}} He was killed in a gunfight in the governorate of Shabwa.{{Cite news|url=https://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/jan/13/al-qaida-yemen|title=Al-Qaida leader killed in Yemen as security operations intensify|newspaper=The Guardian |date=13 January 2010|last1=Black |first1=Ian }} The fighting was so intense that it partially destroyed his home. A few days after his death, two Yemeni soldiers were killed in what was believed to have been a reprisal for Mehdar's death.
