The Afghanistan Science Academy (ASA) ({{langx|ps|د افغانستان د علومو اکاډمي }}, {{langx|fa|اکادمی علوم افغانستان}}) is the official government agency of Afghanistan that regulates the Pashto and Dari{{cite web |title=یگانهگی روش املای زبان دری در افغانستان یک نیاز جدّیست |url=https://www.bbc.com/persian/arts-55920740 |publisher=BBC |lang=}} languages spoken in Afghanistan.
The Academy was founded in 1978 by Dr. Gul Mohammed Noorzai, a historian, writer, and linguist as a result of the merging of older academic associations.{{cite web|title=Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan (ASA)|url=http://www.interacademies.net/Academies/ByRegion/MiddleEastCentralAfrica/Afghanistan.aspx|publisher=Interacademics|accessdate=30 May 2014|archive-date=26 January 2012|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120126173920/http://interacademies.net/Academies/ByRegion/MiddleEastCentralAfrica/Afghanistan.aspx|url-status=dead}} The Academy has more than 300 research fellows, divided into three main groups: social science, natural sciences, and Islamic studies.
During years of civil war many research institutes in Afghanistan have been destroyed.
