The Acadian was one of several passenger trains, including the Sunset Limited and Argonaut, which operated over the eastern end (east of Houston) of the "Sunset Route".{{cite book| title=Rails Around Houston| first1=Douglas L.| last1=Weiskopf| year=2009| publisher=Arcadia| url=https://books.google.com/books?id=tIyHzZhPwNQC| page=97| isbn=9780738558844}}{{cite web|title=Southern Pacific July 1947 timetable, tables 8, 24 and page 17 |url=http://streamlinermemories.info/SP/SP47-7TT.pdf}} The 1956 iteration of the Acadian (which ran as #4 eastbound and #3 westbound) departed Houston at 9:45 pm and arrived in New Orleans at 7:20 am the following morning, while the westbound train departed New Orleans at 9:20 pm and arrived in Houston 7:10 am.{{cite web| url=http://web.me.com/willvdv/chirailfan/stbchou.html| title=Houston's passenger trains of the past| first1=Bill| last1=Vandervoort| work=Chicago Transit & Railfan Web Site| accessdate=March 15, 2010}}{{cite web| url=http://web.me.com/willvdv/chirailfan/stbcnor.html| title=New Orleans's passenger trains of the past| first1=Bill | last1=Vandervoort| work=Chicago Transit & Railfan Web Site| accessdate=March 15, 2010}} The Southern Pacific ended the Acadian in 1956.{{cite web| url=http://sunset-limited.com/lrs/Argonaut.html| first1=Michael M.| last1=Palmieri| date=2004| access-date=March 15, 2010| title=The Argonaut| work=The Louisiana Rail Site| archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100411054009/http://sunset-limited.com/lrs/Argonaut.html| archive-date=April 11, 2010| url-status=dead}}
