Acinetobacter venetianus is a species of bacteria notable for degrading n-alkanes. It harbours plasmids carrying sequences similar to the Pseudomonas oleovorans alkane hydroxylase gene alkBFGH.{{cite journal|last1=Di Cello|first1=F.|last2=Pepi|first2=M.|last3=Baldi|first3=F.|last4=Fani|first4=R.|title=Molecular characterization of an n-alkane-degrading bacterial community and identification of a new species, Acinetobacter venetianus|journal=Research in Microbiology|volume=148|issue=3|year=1997|pages=237–249|issn=0923-2508|doi=10.1016/S0923-2508(97)85244-8|pmid=9765804|doi-access=free}} Its potential for bioremediation is an active research topic, particularly its role in the production of the bioemulsifier emulsan. Its type strain is RAG-1T(=ATCC 31012T=CCUG 45561T=LMG 19082T=LUH 3904T=NIPH 1925T).{{cite journal|last1=Vaneechoutte|first1=M.|last2=Nemec|first2=A.|last3=Musilek|first3=M.|last4=van der Reijden|first4=T.
