Acotylea is a suborder of free-living marine turbellarian flatworms in the order Polycladida.

Description

As currently defined, Acotylea includes polyclads with a Lang's vesicle in the female reproductive system and the male copulatory apparatus directed backwards. When tentacles are present, they are nuchal. The eyespot groups can be nuchal, cerebral, and marginal.{{cite journal | doi = 10.1007/s13127-017-0327-5| title = Polycladida phylogeny and evolution: Integrating evidence from 28S rDNA and morphology| date = 2017| last1 = Bahia| first1 = Juliana| last2 = Padula| first2 = Vinicius| last3 = Schrödl| first3 = Michael| journal = Organisms Diversity & Evolution| volume = 17| issue = 3| pages = 653–678| bibcode = 2017ODivE..17..653B}}

Taxonomy

The internal classification of Acotylea has been unstable, with some genera and families constantly changing place as new molecular and morphological data are analyzed.
