He also briefly represently England internationally at futsal in the early 2000s.

Career

Lowthorpe was born in Kingston upon Hull, and came through the youth ranks of his hometown club, Hull City. He signed his first professional contract in July 1993, and made his debut three months later, on 2 October 1993, in a 3–1 home win over Bradford City.{{citeweb|url=https://www.11v11.com/matches/hull-city-v-bradford-city-02-october-1993-175440/|title=Hull City v Bradford City, 02 October 1993|work=11v11.com|accessdate=21 April 2025}} On 12 April 1997, he scored his first goal in a 2–2 draw away to Humber derby rivals Scunthorpe United.{{citeweb|url=https://www.11v11.com/matches/scunthorpe-united-v-hull-city-12-april-1997-181439/|title=Scunthorpe United v Hull City, 12 April 1997|work=11v11.com|accessdate=21 April 2025}}

Lowthorpe's contract expired with the Tigers following the conclusion of the 1997–98 season. After a year with non-league Gainsborough Trinity, he spent the remainder of his career at North Ferriby United.

Retirement

Lowthorpe retired in 2004. Thanks to studying Leisure Management at York St John University towards the end of his playing days, he was able to be a part of the coaching at staff at Hull for a short period.
