Aegiceras is a genus of trees and shrubs from Southeast Asia, Malesia, Australia and the Pacific Island,. and in Australia, in the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia.{{Cite web|last=Harden|first=G.J.|date=1990|title=PlantNET - FloraOnline; Aegiceras|url=https://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=gn&name=Aegiceras|access-date=2021-05-28|website=plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au}} They occur as mangroves in coastal or estuarine areas.

The genus was first described in 1788 by Joseph Gaertner.{{APNI2|id=77198|name=Aegiceras}}{{cite Q|Q51462289|pages=216, t. 46, fig. 1|url=https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/37174419}} The genus name, Aegiceras, derives from two Greek words: aix ("goat") and keras ("horn", and describes the genus as having fruits with horns like a goat.{{Cite Q|Q107006058|pages=44}}
