The story of survivors of the 1989 Newcastle earthquake that destroyed the Newcastle Workers Club.

Production
Aftershocks went into production in August 1998 with filming beginning with the Newcastle Foreshore, Cooks Hill and the Newcastle Workers Club before moving to Sydney.{{Citation | last= Joyce | first= James | title= Newcastle braces for rumble with artistic aftershocks | url= | periodical= Newcastle Herald | date= 4 August 1998}} The original play and the film adaptation takes words straight from interviews of people who were at the club at the time.
