Ahl Al-Sham ({{langx|ar|غرفة أهل الشام}}) was a joint command structure and umbrella organization of four main Syrian opposition factions operating in Aleppo, Syria. The factions are:

The group has held talks with the People's Protection Units and Jabhat al-Akrad; they have agreed to a truce in order to focus on fighting the Assad government.{{cite web|url=http://the-arab-chronicle.com/dialogue-collaboration-syria-kurds-rebels/ |title=A new dialogue and collaboration in northern Syria between kurds and rebels |publisher=The Arab Chronicle |date=5 March 2014 |accessdate=22 May 2014 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20141012110623/http://the-arab-chronicle.com/dialogue-collaboration-syria-kurds-rebels/ |archivedate=12 October 2014 }}

The groups involved in the structure are perceived differently by the United States; while Al-Nusra Front and Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar are designated as terrorist organizations by the United States.{{cite web|title=Terrorist Designations of the al-Nusrah Front|url=https://2009-2017.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2012/12/201759.htm|publisher=US Department of State|date=24 September 2014|accessdate=25 September 2014}}{{cite web|title=Designations of Foreign Terrorist Fighters|url=https://2009-2017.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2014/09/232067.htm|publisher=US Department of State|date=24 September 2014|accessdate=25 September 2014}} In contrast Islamic Front is considered by the United States as a "moderate" fighting force and the Army of Mujahedeen is being vetted by them to receive support.{{Cite news|title=After A Long Wait, Syrian Rebels Hope The Weapons Will Now Flow|url=https://www.npr.org/blogs/parallels/2014/09/17/349075789/after-a-long-wait-syrian-rebels-hope-the-weapons-will-now-flow|date=17 September 2014|accessdate=17 September 2014|publisher=NPR}}{{Cite news|title=U.S.-led air strikes pose problem for Assad's moderate foes|url=https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-rebels-insight-idUSKCN0HP0BE20140930|date=30 September 2014|accessdate=30 September 2014|publisher=Reuters}}

In late October 2014, the al-Nusra Front began attacking cities held by the Free Syrian Army and other moderate Islamist groups, in an attempt to establish its own Islamic state with imposed Sharia rule.{{cite web|url=http://www.latimes.com/world/middleeast/la-fg-syria-nusra-front-20141128-story.html#page=1|title=Islamic State, rival Al Nusra Front each strengthen grip on Syria|author=Los Angeles Times|date=28 November 2014|work=Los Angeles Times|accessdate=6 December 2014}}

In December 2014, the Levant Front coalition was established, possibly superseding Ahl al-Sham.{{Cite news|title=The Levant Front: Can Aleppo's Rebels Unite?|url=http://carnegieendowment.org/syriaincrisis/?fa=57605|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20141226221548/http://carnegieendowment.org/syriaincrisis/?fa=57605|url-status=dead|archive-date=December 26, 2014|date=26 December 2014|accessdate=30 January 2015|publisher=Carnegie Endowment for International Peace}} It includes the Islamic Front and the Army of Mujahideen but excludes al-Nusra and Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar.
