Al Ashkharah ({{langx|ar|الأشخرة}}) (named after a poisonous desert plant) is a town in the Ash Sharqiyah Region of Oman and is 80km from Ras al-Hadd and 90km from Ras al-Jinz.{{cite book |last=Thomas |first=Gavin |date=2011 |title=The Rough Guide to Oman |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=qKAtjJoXXpwC&dq=Al+Ashkharah+Oman&pg=PA175 |publisher=Penguin Books |page=175 |isbn=978-1405389358 |access-date=August 7, 2015}} It is part of the J'alan area and can be considered as the key city of this area in addition to Ja'lan. Tides are very rough compared to shores in muscat.
