Production

The design was built by Albin Marine in Sweden between 1977 and 1981, with about 400 boats completed, but it is now out of production.{{cite web|url = https://sailboatdata.com/builder/albin-marine|title = Albin Marine 1899 -|access-date = 1 December 2020|last = McArthur|first = Bruce|work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2020|archive-url = https://archive.today/20201202001145/https://sailboatdata.com/builder/albin-marine|archive-date = 2 December 2020|url-status = live}}{{cite web|url = https://www.boat-specs.com/sailing/builders/albin-marine|title = Albin Marine|access-date = 1 December 2020|work = Boat-Specs.com|year = 2020|archive-url = https://archive.today/20201202005949/https://www.boat-specs.com/sailing/builders/albin-marine|archive-date = 2 December 2020|url-status = live}}

Design

The Albin 57 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fibreglass, with wood trim. It has a fractional sloop rig with aluminum spars, wire standing rigging and a single set of swept spreaders. The hull has a raked stem, a plumb transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a swing keel. It displaces {{convert|1764|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|562|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.

The boat has a draft of {{convert|4.26|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the swing keel extended and {{convert|1.97|ft|m|abbr=on}} with it retracted, allowing ground transportation on a trailer.

The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor for docking and manoeuvring.

The design has sleeping accommodation for four people, with a double "V"-berth in the bow cabin and two straight settees in the main cabin. The galley is located at the companionway ladder. The galley is equipped with a two-burner stove. There are hull-mounted rectangular ports on both sides of the boat.

For sailing the design may be equipped with a symmetrical spinnaker of {{convert|269|sqft|m2|abbr=on}}. It has a hull speed of {{convert|5.43|kn|km/h|abbr=on}}.

Operational history

At one time the boat was supported by a class club that organized racing events, Albin 57 Owners Association, but it seem to be no longer existent.{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/association/albin-57-site|title= Albin 57 site|access-date= 1 December 2020|last= McArthur|first= Bruce|work= sailboatdata.com|year= 2020|archive-url= https://archive.today/20201202000919/https://sailboatdata.com/association/albin-57-site|archive-date= 2 December 2020|url-status= live}}
