Alix Pearlstein (born 1962) is an American visual artist, who is particularly well known for her work in video art and performance art. Currently, Pearlstein is on the faculty of the M.F.A Program at School of Visual Arts in New York City, New York[http://www.alixpearlstein.com/Alix_Pearlstein_CV.pdf "Alix Pearlstein CV"], Alix Pearlstein, Retrieved 28 February 2015. and serves on the Board of Governors of The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
Early life and education
Career

In many of her works, Pearlstein gives unscripted, mise-en-scène instructions to performers, resulting in long, suspenseful shots. She received a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists award (2011).
