Production
The boat was the first sailboat design built by Jeanneau and marked their entry into that market. The Alize 20 was constructed in France, from 1963 until 1975, with 360 boats completed.{{cite web|url = https://sailboatdata.com/builder/jeanneau-fra|title = Jeanneau (FRA)|access-date = 23 September 2022|last = McArthur|first = Bruce|work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2022|archive-url = https://archive.today/20210605143626/https://sailboatdata.com/builder/jeanneau-fra|archive-date = 5 June 2021|url-status = live}}{{cite web|url= https://sailboat.guide/jeanneau|title= Jeanneau|access-date= 23 September 2022|author= Sea Time Tech, LLC|work= sailboat.guide|year= 2022|archive-url= https://archive.today/20220418125800/https://sailboat.guide/jeanneau|archive-date= 18 April 2022|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url= https://books.google.com/books?id=Ss_xaFqeA_sC&pg=PP78|title= A Rich Colourful Legacy|access-date= 23 September 2022|author= Jeanneau|author-link= Jeanneau|work= Crusing World|date= October 2007}}
Design
The Alize 20 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a fractional sloop rig. The hull has a raked stem, a plumb transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed stub keel with a retractable centerboard. It displaces {{convert|992|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|287|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast, of which {{convert|66|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} is the centerboard weight.
The boat has a draft of {{convert|3.94|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the centerboard extended and {{convert|1.31|ft|m|abbr=on}} with it retracted, allowing operation in shallow water or ground transportation on a trailer.
The design has sleeping accommodation for two people, with a double "V"-berth in the bow cabin.
For sailing downwind the design may be equipped with a symmetrical spinnaker.
The design has a hull speed of {{convert|5.69|kn|km/h|abbr=on}}.
