The American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) was an American professional association representing the interests of those engaged in measuring and communicating geospatial data.{{cite journal | title=American Congress on Surveying and Mapping | journal=The American Cartographer | publisher=Informa UK Limited | volume=6 | issue=2 | year=1979 | issn=0094-1689 | doi=10.1559/152304079784023177 | pages=186–188 | ref={{sfnref | Informa UK Limited | 1979}}}}

Originally, it was composed of four organizations:

  • American Association for Geodetic Surveying (AAGS)
  • National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS)
  • Cartographic and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS)
  • Geographic and Land Information Society (GLIS){{cite journal | title=The Geographic and Land Information Society and GIS/LIS Activities in the United States|journal=Surveying and Land Information Science |date=June 2006 |volume=66 |issue=2 |pages=119–122 | url=https://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/aags/salis/2006/00000066/00000002/art00009 | ref={{sfnref | Home}} | access-date=2021-07-02|last1=Greenfeld |first1=Joshua S. }}

During the 2000s, CaGIS and GLIS removed themselves from ACSM; in 2012, ACSM legally merged into the NSPS, while AAGS remained separate.{{cite web | title=ACSM & NSPS | website=Land Surveyors United | date=2013-03-13 | url=https://landsurveyorsunited.com/acsm | access-date=2021-07-02}}

It published the bimonthly ACSM Bulletin, no longer in publication.

ACSM also published the quarterly Surveying and Land Information Science (SaLIS) technical journal, now officially published by the AAGS.{{cite web | title=SaLIS | website=AAGS | date=2020-12-14 | url=https://aagsmo.org/salis-journal/ | access-date=2021-07-02}}
