Early life

Amiel Isaac Sol was born on February 14, 1999, in the Philippines. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his parents meeting during their choir days at church. He began playing the guitar at a young age and joined Battle of the Bands competitions during high school. Even after he and his bandmates went to different colleges, Sol continued writing and performing music independently.{{Cite web |title=Mathematician Amiel Sol makes waves on PH music charts with heartfelt songs |url=https://mb.com.ph/2025/3/14/mathematician-amiel-sol-makes-waves-on-ph-music-charts-with-heartfelt-songs |access-date=2025-04-11 |website=Manila Bulletin |language=en}}

He was a student in the Makati Science High School. He holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of the Philippines Diliman.{{Cite web |date=2025-03-06 |title=Amiel Sol on his track becoming PH's No. 1 song |url=https://www.manilatimes.net/2025/03/06/entertainment-lifestyle/show-times/amiel-sol-on-his-track-becoming-phs-no-1-song/2067766/amp |access-date=2025-04-11 |website=The Manila Times |language=en}}{{Cite web |last=Policarpio |first=Allan |date=2025-03-07 |title=This math grad is racking up numbers—in the music charts |url=https://plus.inquirer.net/lifestyle/this-math-grad-is-racking-up-numbers-in-the-music-charts/ |access-date=2025-04-12 |website= |publisher=Philippine Daily Inquirer |language=en-US}}

Artistry

Sol has cited Filipino musicians Johnoy Danao and Ebe Dancel as his main influences in songwriting, stating that their work helped shape his own musical style.{{Cite web |title=Amiel Sol: Becoming a Full-fledged Artist |url=https://www.wish1075.com/article/amiel-sol-full-fledged-artist |access-date=2025-04-11 |website=www.wish1075.com |language=en}}{{Cite web |last=PH |first=Pikapika |title=EXCLUSIVE: Amiel Sol all fired up after success of "Sa Bawat Sandali" {{!}} Pikapika {{!}} Philippine Showbiz News Portal |url=https://www.pikapika.ph/pikadaily/exclusive-amiel-sol-all-fired-up-after-success-of-sa-bawat-sandali |access-date=2025-04-11 |website=www.pikapika.ph |language=en}} His music blends romantic lyricism with ambient folk sound. In an interview with The Beat Asia, he shared, his relationship with music began early in his life in elementary school when he learned to play guitar from his neighbor.{{Cite web |last=Asia |first=The Beat |title=Singer-Songwriter Amiel Sol On Doing What He Loves |url=https://thebeat.asia/manila/vibe/artists/amiel-sol-up-and-coming |access-date=2025-04-11 |website=The Beat Manila |language=en}} He noted that his sound traces back to his school days, where he performed pop-rock covers of popular bands like All Time Low and Eraserheads.

His musical style is characterized by minimalist arrangements, often centered on sparse guitar accompaniment and soothing vocals. While his themes typically revolve around relationships, his message of finding in someone a shelter from the storm goes beyond the usual love song just like his song "Sa Bawat Sandali" as reflected the lyrics, {{Tooltip|Kapag magulo na ang mundo / ikaw ang payapang hinahanap-hanap ko|When the world is chaotic, you are the peace I seek}}.{{Cite web |title=AUDIOJUNKIE: A shelter from the storm |url=https://mb.com.ph/2025/3/3/audiojunkie-a-shelter-from-the-storm |access-date=2025-04-11 |website=Manila Bulletin |language=en}} He is known for writing acoustic-style ballads, usually using the guitar as his main instrument because it is the most accessible to him. Sol has shared that he wants to include more instruments in his future recordings. He started doing this with his song "Fading Away", which showed a noticeable change from his earlier acoustic sound.{{Cite web |title=AUDIO JUNKIE: Amiel Sol, Xavier, Thursday Honey, All Day Sunday, Iyann, Feel Day: Of debuts and other Pinoy pop notables |url=https://mb.com.ph/2022/3/28/amiel-sol-xavier-thursday-honey-all-day-sunday-iyann-feel-day-of-debuts-and-other-pinoy-pop-notables |access-date=2025-04-11 |website=Manila Bulletin |language=en}}
