Amiruddin Ahmad (born 22 December 1895) was a Bengali politician and jurist{{Cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=Vf4jAwAAQBAJ|title=Justice, Judocracy and Democracy in India: Boundaries and Breaches|last=Ranjan|first=Sudhanshu|year=2014|publisher=Routledge|isbn=9781317809777|language=en}} who served as the governor of East Pakistan.
Early life
Ahmad was born on 22 December 1895 in West Bengal. He joined as the Deputy Legal Remembrancer of Bengal on 1 April 1942.{{Cite web|url=https://en.banglapedia.org/index.php?title=Ahmed,_Justice_Amiruddin|title=Ahmed, Justice Amiruddin|website=Banglapedia|access-date=2016-04-13}}
Career
Ahmad was elevated to additional judge of the Calcutta High Court on 6 January 1947. After the partition of India, he moved to East Pakistan. On 15 August 1947 was made the judge of the Dhaka High Court.{{citation needed|date=March 2021}} He was one of three justices on the Rawalpindi conspiracy Tribunal in Hyderabad, Sindh.{{Cite magazine|title=Conspiracy Trial Reaches Judgement|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=cFAdAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA11|magazine=Pakistan Affairs|volume=VI|issue=12|date=4 February 1953|publisher=Information Division, Embassy of Pakistan.|page=3|language=en}} On 10 November 1953, he was made the chairman of the Boundary Commission. On 22 September 1954 he was made the Chief Justice of Dhaka High Court. On 14 June 1955 he was appointed Acting Governor of East Bengal.
