History
Anatone was first settled in 1878 by Daniel McIvor and Charles Isecke. It was named for a Nez Perce woman.{{Cite book| last = Majors | first = Harry M. | title = Exploring Washington | publisher = Van Winkle Publishing Co | year = 1975 | page = 142 |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=CoWrPQAACAAJ| isbn = 978-0-918664-00-6}} It is a working class agricultural area near the tripoint with Idaho and Oregon, primarily growing wheat. The only commercial service available in the area (as of January 2025) is Millie's Grille, located on State Highway 129 (building formerly Anatone Trading Post & Cafe).{{Citation needed|date=January 2025}}
Geography
Anatone is part of the Lewiston, ID-WA Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is approximately {{convert|24|mi|round=5}} south of Clarkston on State Route 129.
Demographics
The community is not tracked by the U.S. Census and a census population estimate is not available. The citizens of Anatone perform population censuses themselves and update a sign in the town on occasion.{{Citation needed|date=January 2025}}

In 2000, an estimated 221 people lived in areas served by the Anatone Post Office, in 167 housing units. As of January 1, 2010, there was a count of 38 people in the town of Anatone.{{Citation needed|date=January 2025}}
