Biography

Bethea was born in Dillon County, South Carolina and later moved to Columbia to work as an attorney, serving in South Carolina's seventh judicial circuit.{{cite journal |title=Official Congressional Directory |journal=70th Congress, 1st Session |date=1921 |volume=67 |issue=1 |page=113 |url= https://books.google.com/books?id=63t16z146LEC&dq=%22Andrew+Bethea%22+lieutenant+governor&pg=PA113|access-date=14 May 2023}} He married Nellie DeTreville Bethea. He was killed in an automobile accident in Orangeburg in 1945.
