Club career

Hunziker started his youth football by local amateur club FC Therwil, but soon moved to the Basel youth academy and advanced through this regularly. He graduated to Basel's first team during the winter break of their 2020–21 season under head coach Ciriaco Sforza. Hunziker played his domestic league debut on 27 February 2021 in a 3–1 league defeat against St. Gallen as he was substituted on in the 70th minute.{{cite web | first = | last = Verein "Basler Fussballarchiv” | author-link = | date = 27 February 2021 | url = https://www.fcb-archiv.ch/saison/spiele?command=detail&id=31560 | title = FC St. Gallen - FC Basel 3:1 (1:0) | format = | work = | publisher = Verein "Basler Fussballarchiv” | access-date = 2021-11-16}}{{cite web|title=St. Gallen vs. Basel - 27 February 2021|url=https://int.soccerway.com/matches/2021/02/27/switzerland/super-league/fc-sankt-gallen-1879/fc-basel/3444022/|access-date=2021-03-07}} On 10 June 2021 Basel announced that Hunziker had signed his first professional contract with them and that this was over four years, until summer 2025.{{cite web | first = | last = FC Basel 1893 | author-link = | date = 10 June 2021 | url = https://www.fcb.ch/aktuell/news/nachwuchs/2021/06/der-fcb-bindet-drei-nachwuchstalente-langfristig/ | title = Der FCB bindet drei Nachwuchstalente langfristig | format = | work = The FCB signs three young talents long term | publisher = FC Basel 1893 AG | language = de | access-date = 2021-06-10}}

On 26 July 2022, Basel announced that they would loan Hunziker out to Aarau for the 2022–23 season, stating that a purchase option was not agreed.{{cite web | first = | last = FC Basel 1893 | author-link = | date = 26 July 2022 | url = https://www.fcb.ch/aktuell/news/1-mannschaft/hunziker-leihweise-zu-aarau/ | title = Andrin Hunziker leihweise zu FC Aarau | format = | work = Andrin Hunziker on loan to FC Aarau | publisher = FC Basel 1893 AG | language = de | access-date = 2021-11-16}} Aarau confirmed the deal on the same day, stating, that Hunziker would gain on playing experience.{{cite web|title=FC Aarau: Andrin Hunziker kommt leihweise vom FC Basel|url=https://www.nau.ch/sport/fussball/fc-aarau-andrin-hunziker-kommt-leihweise-vom-fc-basel-66231664| publisher = nau.ch|language=de|date=28 July 2022|access-date=2022-09-26}} The season was successful, not necessarily for the club who ended the season in fourth position in the table, thus missing their declared aim of promotion, but for the striker, who had scored eight goals in 28 appearances.{{cite web | first1 = Erik | last1 = Garin | author-link = | year = 2023 | url = https://www.rsssf.org/tablesz/zwit2023.html#challenge | title = Switzerland 2022/23 | publisher = Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation | access-date = 2023-11-16}}
