Biography

Born in Nazareth, he became a refugee in Jordan during the Arab-Israeli War, and later immigrated to the United States with the assistance of missionaries.{{Cite web|url=https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/1982/february-5/how-one-arab-came-to-love-jews.html|title=How One Arab Came to Love Jews|first=James C.|last=Hefley|date=February 5, 1982|website=Christianity Today}} He earned two degrees from Baptist seminaries, including a doctorate.{{cite news|last=Sutton|first=Dorothy|title=Shorrosh to speak at 'encounter' people to people|url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=kzVUAAAAIBAJ&sjid=rIwDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5529,7294778&dq=anis+shorrosh&hl=en|access-date=21 April 2012|newspaper=Boca Raton News|date=August 26, 1983}} Shorrosh graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1959 and later received a Doctorate of Ministries from Luther Rice Seminary and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Oxford Graduate School. He served as a pastor and evangelist in the Middle East from 1959 to 1966.

In his 1988 book, Islam Revealed, Shorrosh presented "armed Jihad and violence as central to Islam".{{Cite journal|last=Cimino|first=Richard|date=December 2005|title="No God in Common:" American Evangelical Discourse on Islam after 9/11|journal=Review of Religious Research|volume=47|issue=2|pages=162–174|doi=10.2307/3512048|issn=0034-673X|jstor=3512048}} He authored ten books, including The Liberated Palestinian, The True Furqan; Jesus, Prophecy, and The Middle East; and Islam; A Threat or A Challenge. Shorrosh translated The True Furqan from Arabic to English, intending to challenge the Quran.

In September 1995, he was a guest lecturer at NCI Bible College, Auckland, New Zealand. Shorrosh, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2018 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama.
