She is Professor of Applied Ecology at the University of Gloucestershire.{{Cite web|url=https://www.glos.ac.uk/academic-schools/natural-and-social-sciences/staff-profiles/pages/s2107012-anne-goodenough.aspx|title=Staff Profiles: Prof. Anne Goodenough |publisher= University of Gloucestershire|website=www.glos.ac.uk|access-date=2020-02-07}}
Education

Career and research
She became Professor of Applied Ecology at the University of Gloucestershire in 2017{{Cite web|url=https://uniofglos.blog/bioscience/2017/09/21/congratulations-to-anne-now-professor-goodenough/|title=Congratulations to Anne – now Professor Goodenough!|last=Says|first=Waysofthenaturalworld|date=2017-09-21|website=Bioscience|language=en|access-date=2020-02-07}} and is also course leader for Applied Ecology, prior to this she was a Senior Lecturer and course leader for Biosciences at the University.{{Cite web|url=http://www.cotswoldnews.com/news/2366/university-of-gloucestershire-research-to-help-king-penguins|title=University of Gloucestershire Research to Help King Penguins |publisher= Cotswold News|website=www.cotswoldnews.com|access-date=2020-02-07}}
Her research looks broadly at how species interact with the environment and much of her work has been on birds. Goodenough has researched the phenology (timing) of bird migration using data from the Portland Bird Observatory in Dorset.{{Cite web|url=https://www.bou.org.uk/phenology-goodenough/|title=Does the early bird catch the worm? How to measure bird phenology|date=2015-01-12|website=British Ornithologists' Union|access-date=2020-02-07}} She launched the Starling Survey citizen science project with the Royal Society of Biology, asking for biological records of starling murmurations from the UK public;{{Cite news|last=Webb|first=Jonathan|url=https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29599792|title=Mapping and modelling murmurations|date=2014-10-25|work=BBC News|access-date=2020-02-07|language=en-GB}} she found that murmurations are likely to be a protective 'safety in numbers' behaviour against predators.{{Cite web|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-40632535|title=People power reveals starling secrets|last=Reeve|first=Michelle|date=2017|website=Journal of Experimental Biology|url-status=live|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170718013702/http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-40632535 |archive-date=2017-07-18 |access-date=7 February 2020}} Goodenough has also worked on other species such as in the Flying Ant survey with Adam Hart looking at if there is a single 'Flying Ant Day' or whether it occurs multiple times in a season.{{Cite news|last=Hart|first=Prof Adam|url=https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-40632535|title=Viewpoint: Is there such a thing as 'flying ant day'?|date=2017-07-18|work=BBC News|access-date=2020-02-07|language=en-GB}}
Goodenough also carries out research into higher education teaching methods, she is an advocate of project based learning in particular working with external organisations.{{Cite web|url=https://www.advance-he.ac.uk/knowledge-hub/creating-learning-experience-triangles-use-three-way-partnerships-between-students|title=Creating learning experience triangles: use of three-way partnerships between students lecturers and external organisations to embed authentic experiences in Biosciences curricula |publisher= Advance HE|website=www.advance-he.ac.uk|access-date=2020-02-07}}
In 2017, she wrote the book Applied Ecology, Monitoring, managing, and conserving, with Adam Hart, published by Oxford University Press,{{Cite web|url=https://global.oup.com/ukhe/product/applied-ecology-9780198723288?cc=gb&lang=en&|title=Applied Ecology - Paperback - Anne Goodenough, Adam Hart - Oxford University Press|website=global.oup.com|access-date=2020-02-07}}
