Anne J. Gilliland

Gilliland grew up in Northern Ireland.{{Cite book|last1=Duranti|first1=Luciana|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=U_CYDwAAQBAJ&dq=aeri+anne+gilliland&pg=PA241|title=Encyclopedia of Archival Writers, 1515 - 2015|last2=Franks|first2=Patricia C.|date=2019-04-26|publisher=Rowman & Littlefield|isbn=978-1-5381-2580-9|language=en}} She holds an M.A. in English Literature (Old Norse and Anglo-Irish Literature concentrations) from Trinity College Dublin; an M.S. in Library and Information Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and a Ph.D. in Information and Library Studies from the University of Michigan.

Since 1995, Gilliland has held various positions within UCLA's Department of Information Studies.
