Aptostichus simus is a species of trapdoor spider in the family Euctenizidae. It is a medium-sized mygalomorph[https://books.google.com/books?isbn=0520274881 Common Spiders of North America] Page 114 found in the United States and Mexico.{{cite web|title=Aptostichus simus|url=http://www.wsc.nmbe.ch/species/10320|website=World Spider Catalog|accessdate=8 July 2017}} Aptostichus simus build deep burrows within the sand dunes of California and Mexico near coastal vegetation.
