Reception
{{Rotten Tomatoes prose|87|6.8|62|Patiently constructed and beautifully filmed, Aquarela views man's relationship with water through a sobering -- and awe-inducing -- lens.}}{{cite web|url=https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/aquarela|title=Aquarela|website=Rotten Tomatoes|access-date=9 February 2025}} {{Metacritic film prose|80|20}}{{cite web|url=https://www.metacritic.com/movie/aquarela/|title=Aquarela|website=Metacritic|access-date=9 February 2025}}
Glenn Kenny of RogerEbert.com gave the film three out of four stars and wrote, "This is a purely sensationalistic cinematic experience that paradoxically encourages reflection and contemplation. Although the use of some (admittedly pretty good) heavy metal music on the soundtrack feels like a bit of overreaching."{{cite web|url=https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/aquarela-movie-review-2019|title=Aquarela|website=RogerEbert.com|first=Glenn|last=Kenny|date=16 August 2019|access-date=9 February 2025|archive-date=9 November 2024|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20241109161418/https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/aquarela-movie-review-2019|url-status=live}}
