Archaeohyracidae is an extinct family of notoungulate mammals known from the Paleocene through the Oligocene of South America.McKenna, Malcolm C., and Bell, Susan K. 1997. Classification of Mammals Above the Species Level. Columbia University Press, New York, 631 pp. {{ISBN|0-231-11013-8}} First named in 1897, it is now thought to be paraphyletic, rather than a genuine group of closely related animals with a single, unique, ancestor.{{cite journal |last1= Croft |first1= D. |last2= Bond |first2= M. |display-authors=etal |date= November 2003 |title= Large archaeohyracids (Typotheria, Notoungulata) from central Chile and Patagonia, including a revision of Archaeotypotherium |url= https://www.academia.edu/download/48440976/Croft_et_al._2003_Fieldiana.pdf|journal= Fieldiana Geology |volume= 49 |pages= 1-32 |doi= |access-date= 19 January 2025}}{{cite journal |last1= Billet |first1= G. |last2= Patterson |first2= B. |last3 = de Muizon |first3 = C. |date= January 2007 |title= The latest Archaeohyracid representatives (Mammalia, Notoungulate) from the Deseadan of Bolivia and Argentina |url= https://www.academia.edu/download/48440976/Croft_et_al._2003_Fieldiana.pdf |journal= European Meeting on the Palaeontology and Stratigraphy of Latin America |volume= 4 |pages= 39-43 |access-date= 19 January 2025}}
