Archander

Archander ({{langx|grc|Ἄρχανδρος}}) was a son of Achaeus and brother of Architeles. Together with his brother he carried on a war against the king Lamedon.[https://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus:text:1999.01.0160:book=2:chapter=6 Pausanias, Description of Greece, 2.6] He married Scaea, daughter of Danaus, and settled in Argos. He named his son Metanastes (Μετανάστης), meaning settler/migrant.[https://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0160%3Abook%3D7%3Achapter%3D1%3Asection%3D6 Pausanias, Description of Greece, 7.1.6]

According to one tradition the Achaeans in Peloponnesus took this name because Archander and his brother acquired such influence at Argos that they called the people Achaeans after their father Achaeus.[https://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus:text:1999.04.0064:entry=achaei-geo Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography (1854), Achaei]
