History

The town of Ashti came to prominence around the 16th century when it was awarded to the Dhonde dynasty as a "jagir". The Dhondes were one of the fiercest warriors and equally well educated and known for their benevolent rule. Under the Dhonde dynasty, the barren and rocky land of Ashti was converted to a more fertile place and a trade center that it is today.

[[:mr:दुधना_नदी|Dudhna River]]

The Dudhna River is a tributary of the Godavari River located in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It originates from the Ajanta ranges in the Aurangabad district and flows through Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, and Parbhani districts before merging into the Godavari River. The river has a total length of approximately 190 kilometers.

The Dudhna plays a significant role in supporting agriculture in the region, with its flow being largely seasonal and dependent on monsoon rains. A notable structure on the river is the Dudhna Dam, situated in the Parbhani district, which is primarily used for irrigation and water supply.
