Avenue is an underground light rail transit (LRT) station under construction on Line 5 Eglinton, a new line that is part of the Toronto subway system. The station is located in North Toronto on Eglinton Avenue between Avenue Road and Highbourne Road. It is the deepest underground station on the line.{{cite news |url=https://www.on-sitemag.com/construction/32-metres-beneath-toronto-a-look-underground-at-the-eglinton-crosstowns-deepest-station/1003960836/ |title=32 metres beneath Toronto: A look underground at the Eglinton Crosstown's deepest station |work=On-Site |first=David |last=Kennedy |date=October 23, 2018 |access-date=January 17, 2020 |quote=One of three stations being built using what's known as the new Austrian tunneling method, or simply the "mining" method, Avenue Station reaches a depth of 32 metres (105 feet) underground at its northwest corner—the deepest point of any station in the system.}} Destinations include the Chaplin Estates neighbourhood, Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School, the Eglinton Theatre, and Eglinton Park. The station is scheduled to open in 2024.
The main entrance to this underground station will be located on the northwest corner of Eglinton and Avenue Road; the second entrance will be located approximately {{convert|80|m}} east on the north side of Eglinton. Retail spaces will be available at both entrances at street level. The station will have on-street connections to TTC buses and outdoor parking for 50 bicycles.{{cite web |title=Avenue Station |url=http://thecrosstown.ca/the-project/stations-and-stops/avenue-station |website=Eglinton Crosstown |date=October 13, 2016 |access-date=November 10, 2017 }} There is a third centre track on the east side of the station between the eastbound and westbound tracks either to store a train or to allow a train to change direction due to an emergency or a change in service.{{cite web |url=http://mailchi.mp/metrolinx/eglinton-crosstown-lrt-updates?e=67918bdda5 |title=Eglinton Crosstown LRT Updates - July 2017 |publisher=Metrolinx |date=July 14, 2017 |access-date=November 1, 2017 }}{{cite web |url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l92-7tp0vCw |title=Vehicle Ride: Laird Station to EMSF |publisher=Metrolinx |date=November 30, 2021 |page=2:12 }}

Shops were demolished to construct the two station entrances.{{cite web |url=https://www.google.com/maps/@43.7046333,-79.408677,3a,75y,295.66h,97.07t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sQpgx4365k0boo5glY9gJPA!2e0!5s20141001T000000!7i13312!8i6656 |title=319 Eglinton Ave W |publisher=Google Maps |date=September 2014 }}{{cite web |url=https://www.google.com/maps/@43.7048842,-79.4072244,3a,75y,333.93h,91.07t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sSOncyeR5r9d--whaEzqYXg!2e0!5s20150501T000000!7i13312!8i6656|title=263 Eglinton Ave W |publisher=Google Maps |date=May 2015 }}
In a report to the TTC Board on November 23, 2015, it was recommended that stations on Line 5 Eglinton should be given unique names.{{cite web |url=http://ttc.ca/About_the_TTC/Commission_reports_and_information/Commission_meetings/2015/November_23/Reports/Eglinton_Line_Station_Names__Combined_Report.pdf |title=Line 5 Eglinton Station Names |date=November 23, 2015 |work=Board Presentation |publisher=Toronto Transit Commission |quote=TTC staff evaluated the initial report and the proposed names and provided feedback and recommendations. A primary TTC concern was to avoid replication and redundancy with existing TTC station names. Later, Metrolinx changed the proposed name to "Oriole Park". However, by January 2016, the proposed station name had been changed back to "Avenue" because "Oriole Park" was too similar to the name of another transit station within Toronto, namely Oriole GO Station on GO Transit's Richmond Hill line.{{cite web |url=http://torontoist.com/2016/01/metrolinx-eglinton-crosstown-station-names-debate/ |title=Metrolinx Finalizes Eglinton Crosstown Station Names |publisher=The Torontoist |first=Sean |last=Marshall |date=January 14, 2016 |access-date=May 8, 2017 |quote=Oriole Park was renamed back to "Avenue"}}
