History

=== 1967, aftermath ===

After the 1967 Six-Day War, az-Za'ayyem has been under Israeli occupation.

After the 1995 accords, 3.8% (or 236 dunams) of the land was classified as Area B, the remaining 96.2% (or 5,896 dunams) as Area C.[http://vprofile.arij.org/jerusalem/pdfs/vprofile/Az%20Za'ayyem_EN.pdf Az Za'ayyem Village Profile], ARIJ, p. 16

Israel has confiscated land from az-Za'ayyem in order to construct two Israeli settlements:

Az-Za'ayyem lies close to Highway 1 to Jerusalem and the az-Za'ayyem check point in the separation barrier.[http://www.humanitarianinfo.org/opt/docs/UN/OCHA/ochaHU0605_En.pdf Humanitarian Events, Monitoring issues] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20051112041506/http://www.humanitarianinfo.org/opt/docs/UN/OCHA/ochaHU0605_En.pdf |date=2005-11-12 }}{{Cite web |url=http://www.ochaopt.org/documents/Central_WestBank_BarrierMarch04.pdf |title=Barrier March 2004 |access-date=2008-07-16 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20091013134502/http://www.ochaopt.org/documents/Central_WestBank_BarrierMarch04.pdf |archive-date=2009-10-13 |url-status=dead }}{{cite report|url=http://www.badil.org/phocadownloadpap/Badil_docs/publications/DisplacedbytheWall-en.pdf|title=Displaced by the Wall: Pilot Study on Forced Displacement Caused by the Construction of the West Bank Wall and its Associated Regime in the Occupied Palestinian territories|publisher=BADIL|year=2006|access-date=2018-11-09}}{{Cite web |url=http://www.ochaopt.org/documents/BarrierRouteProjections_July_2008.pdf |title=Barrier route July 2008 |access-date=2008-07-16 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080910163530/http://www.ochaopt.org/documents/BarrierRouteProjections_July_2008.pdf |archive-date=2008-09-10 |url-status=dead }}
