Julian Smith of travel guide Frommer's rated Bailey's Taproom with one star out of three, and said the bar's "constantly changing taps with an amazing range of brews helps rank this place above most Portland beer bars". Portland Monthly said the bar was staffed with a "chipper cast of beer nerds" who could offer helpful suggestions; the magazine recommended the five-beer sampler tray and included Bailey's Taproom in a 2017 list of 20 "essential" Portland bars.{{Cite web |title=Bailey's Taproom |url=https://www.pdxmonthly.com/bars/baileys-taproom |access-date=2022-12-21 |website=Portland Monthly |language=en-US |issn=1546-2765 |archive-date=21 December 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221221162143/https://www.pdxmonthly.com/bars/baileys-taproom |url-status=live }}{{Cite web |title=20 Essential Portland Bars |url=https://www.pdxmonthly.com/eat-and-drink/2017/11/portland-s-20-essential-bars |access-date=2022-12-22 |website=Portland Monthly |language=en-US |archive-date=22 December 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221222021830/https://www.pdxmonthly.com/eat-and-drink/2017/11/portland-s-20-essential-bars |url-status=live }} Michael Russell included both Bailey's Taproom and The Upper Lip in The Oregonian{{'s}} 2014 and 2016 lists of the city's 10 best beer bars and 21 essential bars, respectively.{{Cite web |last=Russell |first=Michael |date=2014-09-23 |title=Portland's 10 best beer bars: Bar Tab |url=https://www.oregonlive.com/dining/2014/09/portlands_best_beer_bars_bar_t.html |access-date=2022-12-21 |website=The Oregonian |language=en |archive-date=21 December 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221221182628/https://www.oregonlive.com/dining/2014/09/portlands_best_beer_bars_bar_t.html |url-status=live }}{{Cite web |last=Russell |first=Michael |date=2016-08-26 |title=Portland's 21 essential bars |url=https://www.oregonlive.com/dining/2016/08/portlands_21_essential_bars.html |access-date=2022-12-21 |website=The Oregonian |language=en |archive-date=6 March 2019 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190306043412/https://www.oregonlive.com/dining/2016/08/portlands_21_essential_bars.html |url-status=live }} In his 2015 book The Best Beer in the World, Mark Dredge described Bailey's Taproom as "modern and cool" with a "superb" beer list.{{Cite book |last=Dredge |first=Mark |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=6h-eDgAAQBAJ&dq=%22Bailey%27s+Taproom%22+portland&pg=PT252 |title=The Best Beer in the World: One man's globe search for the perfect pint |date=2015-10-08 |publisher=Ryland Peters & Small |isbn=978-1-911026-35-8 |language=en |access-date=11 January 2023 |archive-date=21 December 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221221190239/https://books.google.com/books?id=6h-eDgAAQBAJ&newbks=0&printsec=frontcover&pg=PT252&dq=%22Bailey%27s+Taproom%22+portland&hl=en |url-status=live }} Nathan Isaacs included Bailey's Taproom in U.S. News & World Report{{'s}} 2017 list of seven "great" bars in Portland and said it "aims to cater to beer connoisseurs as well as uninitiated beer drinkers".{{cite news |last1=Isaacs |first1=Nathan |title=7 Great Bars in Portland |url=https://travel.usnews.com/features/7-great-bars-in-portland-locals-picks |access-date=December 21, 2022 |work=U.S. News & World Report |date=September 8, 2017 |archive-date=21 December 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221221162804/https://travel.usnews.com/features/7-great-bars-in-portland-locals-picks |url-status=live }}
