History

Located in Cappagh between Dungarvan and Lismore, the current Ballinamere GAA Club was founded in 1957, however, Gaelic games had been played in the area for several decades at that stage, with a Ballinameela/Aglish combination winning the Waterford SFC title in 1889.{{cite web|url=https://www.waterfordgaa.ie/roll-of-honour-football/|title=Roll of honour - football|date=|publisher=Waterford GAA website|accessdate=4 December 2018|first=|last=}} The club spent much of its early years operating in the West Waterford divisional championships before winning the Waterford IFC title for the first time in 1979. Ballinameela reached the Waterford SFC final in 1984 but lost out to Tramore.{{cite web|url=https://hoganstand.com/Waterford/ClubTitles|title=Club Titles - Waterford|date=|publisher=Hogan Stand|accessdate=4 December 2018|first=|last=}} A first Waterford JAHC was won a year later in 1985.

The turn of the 21st century saw Ballinameela have several successes across both codes. Three more Waterford IFC titles were won between 2009 and 2015.{{cite web|url=https://www.munster-express.ie/all-front-page-news/secondary-stories/ballinameela-take-ifc-crown-at-the-second-time-of-asking/|title=Ballinameela take IFC crown at the second time of asking|date=19 November 2009|publisher=The Munster Express|accessdate=4 December 2018|first=Thomas|last=Keane}}{{cite web|url=https://www.hoganstand.com/county/waterford/article/index/179874|title=Senior returns for Ballinameela and An Rinn|date=25 October 2012|publisher=The Munster Express|accessdate=4 December 2018|first=|last=}}{{cite web|url=https://www.munster-express.ie/sports/late-goal-drama-ensures-a-replay/|title=Late goal drama ensures a replay|date=27 October 2015|publisher=The Munster Express|accessdate=4 December 2018|first=Dermot|last=Keyes}} The club also claimed further Waterford JAHC honours in 2011 and 2018.{{cite web|url=https://www.wlrfm.com/sport/74405-74405|title=Ballinameela crowned County Junior 'A' Hurling Champions|date=7 October 2018|publisher=WLRfm|accessdate=4 December 2018|first=|last=}} Ballinameela later lost out to Cloughduv in the 2018 Munster junior club final.{{cite web|url=https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/gaa/cloughduv-come-out-on-top-in-munster-junior-hurling-decider-889322.html|title=Cloughduv come out on top in Munster junior hurling decider|date=2 December 2018|publisher=Irish Examiner|accessdate=4 December 2018|first=Therese|last=O'Callaghan}}
