Barada TV

Barada TV is a London-based Syrian opposition satellite television network. Leaked U.S. diplomatic cables show that the U.S. State Department had funneled $6 million to Barada TV between 2006 and 2011 to operate the satellite channel and finance other activities inside Syria. The State Department refused to comment on this allegation.{{cite news|title=U.S. secretly backed Syrian opposition groups, cables released by WikiLeaks show|url=https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/us-secretly-backed-syrian-opposition-groups-cables-released-by-wikileaks-show/2011/04/14/AF1p9hwD_story.html|newspaper=The Washington Post | first=Craig|last=Whitlock | authorlink = Craig Whitlock |date=18 April 2011| accessdate=18 July 2014}}[http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/17/us-syria-opposition_n_850302.html "U.S. Secretly Backed Syrian Opposition Groups, Cables Released By WikiLeaks Show"], Huffington Post. In a NPR story in 2011, the channel was described as a low-tech outlet, which is supported by videos sent from Syrian protesters and increasingly funded by donations from Syrians.{{Cite news |title=Barada TV Puts Syria's 'YouTube Revolution' On Air |language=en |work=NPR.org |url=https://www.npr.org/2011/06/13/137154947/barada-tv-puts-syrias-youtube-revolution-on-air?t=1649074793899 |access-date=2022-04-04}}
