Barbara Fantechi is an Italian mathematician and Professor at the International School for Advanced Studies. Her research area is algebraic geometry. She is a member of the Accademia dei Lincei.
Early life and education
Fantechi received her Laurea from the University of Pisa in 1988, with thesis Secanti di varietà proiettive e applicazioni.{{Cite web|title= Barbara Fantechi |publisher=Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti|work=Academics|url=https://www.istitutoveneto.it/flex/cm/pages/ServeBLOB.php/L/IT/IDPagina/1864 |access-date=2022-09-08 |language=it}} Her doctoral advisor was Fabrizio Catanese.{{MathGenealogy|id=129279}}
Research and career
Her research considers algebraic geometry.{{Citation |title=Barbara Fantechi: A classical view on derived algebraic geometry |url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8ygFG3kKJI |language=en |access-date=2022-09-08}} She has developed the mathematical theories that underpin algebraic stacks.
