Barton and Pooley Bridge is a civil parish in Westmorland and Furness, Cumbria, England. The parish is on the edge of the Lake District National Park, and had a population of 232 according to the 2001 census,{{NOMIS2001|id=16UF007|title=Barton Parish|access-date=27 March 2021}} increasing slightly to 238 at the 2011 Census.{{NOMIS2011|id=E04002516|title=Barton Parish|access-date=27 March 2021}} The parish includes the village of Pooley Bridge, the small hamlet of Barton, and part of Ullswater, and extends south as far as Loadpot Hill. It has an area of {{convert|16.95|sqkm|sqmi}} and a 2011 population density of 14/sqkm (36/sqmi). The parish was once much bigger and included the present civil parishes of Patterdale, Yanwath and Eamont Bridge and Sockbridge and Tirril.
Etymology
Whaley suggests that 'Barton' is 'the barley farm or outlying grange', from OE 'beretūn' or, more probably, 'bærtūn', which was used of farms, especially outliers of large estates, used for storing crops."{{Cite book|last=Whaley|first=Diana|title=A dictionary of Lake District place-names|location=Nottingham|publisher=English Place-Name Society|year=2006|pages=lx,423 p.19|ISBN=0904889726}} OE=Old English.
Governance

It was in the Askham ward of Eden District until 2023. It is within the parliamentary constituency of Westmorland and Lonsdale.
