Bathycongrus bertini is an eel in the family Congridae (conger/garden eels).[http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Bathycongrus-bertini.html Bathycongrus bertini] at www.fishbase.org. It was described by Max Poll in 1953, originally under the genus Congermuraena.Poll, M., 1953 (30 Nov.) [ref. 12713] Poissons III. Téléostéens Malacoptérygiens. Résultats scientifique. Expédition océanographic belge dans les eaux côtières africaines de l'Atlantique sud (1948–1949). Bruxelles. v. 4 (no. 2): 1–258, Pls. 1–8. It is a marine, deep water-dwelling eel which is known from Mauritania to Angola, in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. It dwells at a depth range of 200–400 metres. Males can reach a maximum total length of 39 centimetres.
