Bayli Mckeithan, known professionally as Bayli (stylized all caps), is an American Pop and R&B singer. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, she first gained fame as part of the music band The Skins, with which she released one EP and various singles. Career

Bayli was the lead vocalist of Brooklyn-based rock band The Skins, which she formed as a teenager with her siblings Reef (drummer) and Kaya (bassist and vocalist), as well as with friends Russel Chell and Daisy Spencer (guitarists).{{Cite interview |interviewer=Taylor Bryant |title=Bayli Of The Skins Talks About Being On Her "Millennial Shit" |url=https://www.nylon.com/articles/bayli-the-skins-interview |access-date=November 14, 2022 |work=Nylon |date=August 29, 2017 |subject=Bayli}}{{Cite news |last=Irvin |first=Jack |date=September 10, 2021 |title=Bayli On Her Solo Music, A Tragic Loss & The Housewives Franchise She'd Join |work=Bustle |url=https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/bayli-solo-music-stories-from-new-york-ep |access-date=November 14, 2022}}{{Cite interview |interviewer=Victoria Moorwood |title=KCR Secret Sessions: Exclusive Interview with The Skins |url=https://kcr.sdsu.edu/kcr-secret-sessions-exclusive-interview-skins/ |access-date=November 14, 2022 |work=KCR College Radio |publisher=San Diego State University |date=January 30, 2017 |subject=The Skins}}{{Cite web |last=Rule |first=Doug |date=2022-11-14 |title=Editor's Pick: BAYLI at the 9:30 Club |url=https://www.metroweekly.com/2022/11/editors-pick-bayli-at-930-club/ |access-date=2022-11-28 |website=Metro Weekly}} The band was signed by Rick Rubin and released an EP, Still Sleep. = Solo career =

Bayli grew more interested in songwriting after the disbandment of The Skins, and with the encouragement of friends, decided to work as a solo artist. In explaining the decision, she stated that she felt her purpose was to share what she was creating, and that she needed to release her own music to "gain clarity." Bayli released her solo debut single, "MYOB: Or Whatever" in 2018. The song was co-written with Justin Tranter.{{Cite press release |title=Brooklyn Artist BAYLi Announces SUMMER Mixtape |date=June 27, 2018 |publisher=Shore Fire Media |url=https://shorefire.com/releases/entry/brooklyn-artist-bayli-summer-mixtape |access-date=November 14, 2022}} She subsequently released R&B single "Underneath," which featured on her mixtape "SUMMER."{{Cite magazine |last=Whittum |first=Connor |date=July 19, 2018 |title=Bayli Gets Reflective In Mirror-Filled 'Underneath' Video: Watch |magazine=Billboard |url=https://www.billboard.com/music/rb-hip-hop/bayli-underneath-video-8466107/ |access-date=November 14, 2022}}

Bayli released single "16" in 2021. The song described her mother's life story, as well as her ambition and influence on Bayli; it was reworked into a memorial song after her unexpected death.{{Cite news |last=D'Souza |first=Shaad |date=August 12, 2021 |title=BAYLI bares her soul on the funky "16" |work=The Fader |url=https://www.thefader.com/2021/08/12/bayli-16-stories-from-new-york-listen-2021 |access-date=November 14, 2022}} It and previous singles were included in debut EP, stories from new york, which also released in 2021. Bayli said the EP's concept "came naturally," as after making songs for the project, she noticed they all had a common thread relating to her New York City background, stating that "with all the ways the city has influenced my identity with music and art and fashion and even my family's identity too, it just felt so right."{{Cite news |last=Rabinowitz |first=Chloe |date=September 10, 2021 |title=Artist & Songwriter Bayli Releases Debut EP, STORIES FROM NEW YORK |work=Broadway World |url=https://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwmusic/article/Artist-Songwriter-Bayli-Releases-Debut-EP-STORIES-FROM-NEW-YORK-20210910 |access-date=November 14, 2022}} The EP also embodies her desire to share stories from a new perspective: "As a Black woman, as a queer person, as a person at the intersection of all these things, I would love to be there to tell new stories. That’s what stories from new york is."

In 2022, Bayli received broad recognition for her single "TELLY BAG", an ode for her love of the Telfar bag. The Fader featured the single as a "Song You Need." It and Paper praised "TELLY BAG" for its "effortless breeziness" and "laidback vibes." Reviewers noted "TELLY BAG"'s explicit queerness and connection to queer culture, with BroadwayWorld describing it as a "gay anthem."{{Cite news |last=Renshaw |first=David |date=May 9, 2022 |title=Song You Need: BAYLI 's "Telly Bag" is for everyone |work=The Fader |url=https://www.thefader.com/2022/05/09/bayli-telly-bag |access-date=2022-11-28}}{{Cite news |date=2022-05-06 |title=BAYLI Wrote an Ode to the Telfar Bag |language=en |work=Paper |url=https://www.papermag.com/bayli-telly-bag-video-premiere-2657272278.html |access-date=2022-11-28}}{{Cite news |last=Tomeo |first=Marissa |date=May 8, 2022 |title=Brooklyn-Based Artist BAYLI Releases Gay Anthem, 'Telly Bag' |work=Broadway World |url=https://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwmusic/article/Brooklyn-Based-Artist-BAYLI-Releases-Gay-Anthem-Telly-Bag-20220508 |access-date=2022-11-28}}
