History

Marshawn Lynch, Jun Park, and Kevin Yamada originally planned to open a Hawaiian restaurant at Hotel Vance called Beast, with recipes by Lynch's Filipino grandmother. However, the proposed name conflicted with Naomi Pomeroy's restaurant of the same name.{{Cite web |last=Jackson-Glidden |first=Brooke |date=2021-09-09 |title=A New Beast Is Coming to Town — This Time From NFL Player Marshawn Lynch |url=https://pdx.eater.com/2021/9/9/22665309/beast-marshawn-lynch-downtown-hawaiian |access-date=2022-03-23 |website=Eater Portland |language=en |archive-date=2022-03-05 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220305091449/https://pdx.eater.com/2021/9/9/22665309/beast-marshawn-lynch-downtown-hawaiian |url-status=live }}{{Cite web |last=Russell |first=Michael |date=2021-09-09 |title=NFL's Marshawn Lynch brings 'Beast Mode' to Portland with new downtown restaurant |url=https://www.oregonlive.com/entertainment/2021/09/nfls-marshawn-lynch-brings-beast-mode-to-portland-with-new-downtown-restaurant.html |access-date=2022-03-23 |website=The Oregonian |language=en |archive-date=2021-11-21 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211121165450/https://www.oregonlive.com/entertainment/2021/09/nfls-marshawn-lynch-brings-beast-mode-to-portland-with-new-downtown-restaurant.html |url-status=live }} The name 'Beast by Marshawn Lynch & Kama’aina' was changed to 'Beastro'.{{Cite journal |last=Bach |first=Jonathan |date=January 21, 2022 |title=Beast vs. Beast: A Portland restaurateur blocks an NFL star |url=https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/news/2022/01/21/beast-no-more-marshawn-lynchs-portland-restaur.html |journal=Portland Business Journal |access-date=March 23, 2022 |archive-date=January 24, 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220124155638/https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/news/2022/01/21/beast-no-more-marshawn-lynchs-portland-restaur.html |url-status=live }}
